Guide for Installing Prestashop on Webhosting

Prestashop is web instant software which is used for building online shop freely. This kind of CMS has specifications including webserver Linux or windows, PHP 5.0 version or above, apache 1.3 version or IIS6 and above.

Here is the guideline about how to install Prestashop on your webhosting. However, do not forget that firstly, you need to download the file of the Prestashop software. Make sure that you download the file through the official website.
First Step

Firstly, upload the Prestashop file in public_html directory. Then, extract the file so that there appears a new directory named “Prestashop” (home/userCpanel/public_html/prestashop). If you want to install it through your own website, move all files directly under ‘public_html’ without creating a new directory. If you do not have database server yet, make if first. You can create it through cPanel > MySql Database.

After completing downloading all files and making a new database, access the URL on your site “http://YourDomainName.com/install”. Then, choose the language you want for the online shop and push “Next”.

Then, application will check the system. If the server is compatible to all requirements, you will see green-colored icon for every requirement. Push “Next” button to continue.

Second Step

On the next step, you need to insert the database name, password and User database information. You have made on the previous step. It is highly recommended to new users, to choose “Full mode: Install all basic modules and add sample products“ on the option beneath the database configuration. It will give you some samples of goods data to make you easier to master the application.

The Third Step

On this step, the most important thing is inserting login information for the application. You need to insert the valid email. Moreover, you need to insert the logo, shop name, and so forth as you want as well.

Now, the Prestashop has been installed well. The process will display all information you have inseted beforehand. Here are several important things need to notice:
  1. Delete Install folder in “public_html” folder. Besides, rename the ”Admin” folder with another name as you want.  You enable to use the tools provided in file manager menu.
  2. The steps above are security requirement. You will not be able to login in admin area unless you have not fixed it properly.
